Open ESD File

ESD means Electronic Software Delivery. An ESD file is the compressed and encrypted Windows image file (WIM), which contains a full copy of the Windows operating system, and is used usually for Windows installation. An ESD file may includes one or several images.

PowerISO can open an ESD file, list and extract files within the ESD file. You can also convert an ESD file to WIM file, and vice vesa. To open an ESD file, please follow the steps,

  • Run PowerISO.

  • Click the "Open" button on toolbar or choose "File > Open" menu to Open ESD file.

 

  • If there are more than one image in the ESD file, PowerISO will list all images in the ESD file. Select the image you want to open, and click "Import" button. 

 

  • PowerISO will list all files in the specified image. You can browse and navigate the files and folders in the ESD file.

 

  • Click the "Extract" button on toolbar to open "Extract ESD file" dialog.

 

  • Choose the destination directory for extraction. If you want to extract all files, you should select "All files" option.

 

  • Click the "OK" button to start extracting the files in the ESD file.. 

 

  • If you want to extract another image in the ESD file, you need open the ESD file again, and select the image desired. You can also select another image in the ESD file by clicking on the left of image properties bar and selecting the image from the popup menu.
